Mountain clean up campaign

A team of 53 mountaineers, including 21 Koreans and 32 Sherpas, is heading for Mt. Everest base camp on Wednesday as part of a campaign to clean up all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres, a news report said Sunday.

"The team is on a mission to clean up the area up to 5,360 metres of the world's tallest peak and is also commencing an ambitious campaign of cleaning all the peaks above 8,000 metres for the first time," said The Himalayan Times..

Famous Korean mountaineer Han Wang-Yong is leading the campaign. A group of Korean journalists will accompany the team to film its activities that will be latter screened for the public, the news report said....nepalnews
